Since Microsoft released Windows 11, the way Dolphin assistive technology is developed and released has improved. Dolphin assistive technology products are developed, tested and updated to ensure they are compatible with the latest changes in Windows 11.

You can be confident that with Dolphin assistive technology, the ways you use your computer -  for work, study or leisure - are all accessible. So you can continue to use it without any loss of service.

About Windows 11

Windows 11 is the latest version of Windows and was a major update to the Windows operating system, first introduced in October 2021. A reliable, secure and high-performance operating system, its features and innovations were developed to enhance productivity in office and home working.

More about new features in Windows 11 >

Some older computers may not be eligible for Windows 11. So if you are using an older computer, we recommend upgrading to a newer model to ensure the best experience with your assistive technology.

It will mean that both your assistive technology and your computer will run better, will be more secure and will give you a much better user experience.

Microsoft will only continue to support Windows 10 until 14 October 2025.

Dolphin SuperNova and Windows 11

The main changes Dolphin makes to ensure your assistive technology is compatible with Windows 11, is to offer frequent updates to match the new Windows 'rolling updates'.

This means that rather than updating software in one go at set times throughout the year, each update is  released as soon as it's ready. Dolphin keeps up with these rolling updates to Windows, and offers more frequent updates too, so you continue to have a smooth and functional experience when you use your computer with assistive technology.

To ensure you can take advantage of these rolling updates, and keep your assistive technology up to date, we recommend you have a SuperNova Maintenance Agreement (SMA) or SuperNova Upgrade Plan (SUP). These can be purchased directly from Dolphin if you're in the UK, or you can contact your local Dolphin Dealer if you're outside the UK.

While it's active, an SMA or SUP will mean you always have the current version of SuperNova. This keeps you up to date with any changes in Windows, so your assistive technology works with these changes, rather than risking losing functionality.

With an SMA or SUP you will also be able to take advantage of any new features that Dolphin introduces to SuperNova and the improvements and fixes we add to ensure your assistive technology meets your accessibility needs.

Upgrading SuperNova

If you are not running the current version of SuperNova, you can try it out free for 30 days!

There's no obligation to purchase, and we offer free training and support to help you get the most from your trial.

If, after your free trial, you decide to purchase an upgrade to the latest version of SuperNova, we recommend that you also purchase a Dolphin SMA or SUP to cover future updates.

These are pre-paid plans then provide you with automatic upgrades to SuperNova as soon as they are released. For peace of mind, you can buy them for periods of up to five years.  Contact the Dolphin Sales Team to find out more.

What are my upgrade options?

Software Maintenance Agreement (SMA) – For organisations

Best suited to organisations, the SMA is an annual maintenance plan that covers upgrades, updates and bug fixes for Dolphin SuperNova software and for Windows operating system upgrades.

The Dolphin SMA is excellent value for money and is typically half the price of buying upgrades separately. It renews annually to ensure your company’s SuperNova version is always current.

SuperNova Upgrade Program (SUP) – For individual users

For individual users, the SUP is a pre-paid plan that includes two major upgrades of your SuperNova edition, and automatic support for the latest Windows operating systems.

A SuperNova Upgrade Plan includes two major upgrades for the price of one, so it’s a cost-effective way of keeping your SuperNova product up to date.
